Verlainna (Lainna) Callentine - BIO & WORKSHOPS

Speaker: Lainna Callentine, M.D., M.Ed.

 

Dr. Lainna Callentine has a great love for teaching. She is a pediatrician, home school mother, and former classroom teacher with a certification and masters in elementary education. Dr. Callentine received her BA from Northwestern University where she studied in The School of Education majoring in Human Development and Social Policy while competing on a full athletic scholarship in basketball. She is a former 5th grade classroom teacher and completed her Masters of Education at Widener University in Pennsylvania. Dr. Callentine received her M.D. at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and completed her residency training at Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Dr. Callentine continues to have wonderment for the beauty of God's creation in the human body. She left formal medicine in the ER to stay home and home school her three children. However, she still practices her hobby of medicine at a Christian clinic in Bolingbrook.

It never stops during your life. It works around the clock day and night. Come and explore the wonders of the most powerful muscle in your body, the heart. In this interactive workshop, you will investigate how the heart works and the components of the river that ebbs and flows inside all of us. Participants in this interactive workshop will learn about the heart cycle, listen to heart sounds, understand their significance, examine prepared blood slides under the microscope and with great anticipation dive into the chambers of the heart through a hands-on classroom dissection of the heart. See how you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Each workshop is limited to 30 participants. Workshop Fee: $3
