Speaker: Dan Caswell

 

Dan and his wife Beth have been homeschooling for 22 years, the Lord having blessed them with 8 children, ranging in age from 8 to 22. As the Lord has broadened Dan and Beth’s vision for His calling on their family, they have been involved in starting and helping lead a family integrated, home discipleship oriented church, NICYO (Northern Illinois Christian Youth Orchestra), the Encouraging Word Gavel Club (public speaking and leadership for young people), and summer family baseball in a hay field at their farm, among other things. They have ministered as the Caswell Family Singers around the Midwest and beyond over the past 6 years. Dan is a husband, father, teaching elder in a family integrated church, attorney, and township supervisor. The Caswell family lives on a 180 acre farm in the hills of northwestern Illinois.

Develop a Family Vision

In our day, the family continues to become more and more fragmented, often by what we perceive as “good things”. Homeschooling families face some of the same risks in this area as we seek to do the best for our individual children. Yet the family is God’s invention for filling the earth, taking dominion over it and passing on the faith to succeeding generations. And a family in harmony with God’s calling can be a powerful force. The Caswell family has been learning the benefits of “family vision” over their 22 years of homeschooling and Dan and four of his children will share how the Lord has birthed and refined their family vision. Come and get a vision for how you can develop your own family vision to make an impact for the kingdom as a family.  

Gavel Club: Preparing to Give an Answer

Scared to death of public speaking yourself, yet wondering how to teach your children how to speak in public, be able to think on their feet and grow in leadership skills? Toastmaster’s Gavel Club was an answer to prayer in this area for the Caswell family. Come hear the benefits of a Gavel Club and practical tips on how to start one. A “mock meeting” will be presented to give you and your young people a vision for what the Lord can do when we seek to grow our speaking skills for the glory of God.
