Joyce Herzog - BIO & WORKSHOPS

Joyce Herzog

Speaker: Joyce Herzog

www.joyceherzog.com

Joyce has a passion for educating the next generation. Graduating with straight-A’s, Joyce quickly realized she was unprepared for the world at large. In the ensuing years, the inadequacies of the system were compounded by the waving standards, violence, insufficient discipline, and eroding values of our society. She realized this same system that failed her, now is failing our next generations. To combat this onslaught, she authored several books and helps for parents and teachers. She has a Master's Degree and 25 years experience teaching the learning disabled as well as a Ph.D. in Humane Letters. Joyce has pioneered programs and taught special education and learning disabilities curriculums in several states. She has been speaking and writing for home educators for over two decades as well as working directly with many families on an individual basis.

Choosing & Using Curriculum

Thursday

Understand your Curriculum choices so you can choose more effectively! Joyce presents principles to consider as well as specific comments on many available materials and their effectiveness. This will help you understand your needs better so you waste less money on materials that don't work! We do address special needs, but have much to offer every parent making curriculum choices. Confused about educational styles, grade levels, or what your learner can do independently? Want to know the pros and cons of various reading and math curricula? Come and hear this before you spend your budget!

Simplified Grammar

Saturday

Teaching grammar doesn’t have to be boring or fighting! In this one-hour workshop, most parents learn and understand more grammar than they did in their whole school career. And even better than that, are ready to teach it in a way that makes sense. Come and see how!

Learning in Spite of Labels

Friday

Come and see into the heart of your struggling learner – even if he is gifted in some areas. Discover the underlying problem, look at his strengths and learn some strategies to get moving in the right direction. You’ll laugh, you may cry, you will learn!

From Passion to Calling

Saturday

Do I know my child well enough to guide his education? How to I help my child move from what he loves to what God has called him to? How can I help him know where God is leading him? Noble words, but all he wants to do is play with Legos™! Help me! Learn how to help your child discover his passions and move on from there to seeing God’s calling on his life. Discover some guiding principles and learn what to do. Everyone can be involved in ministry; find out how.

Motivating Reluctant Learners

Friday

Learn how it got this way and how to turn it around. Techniques and strategies presented will help you move forward and prevent problems with younger ones.

Teaching Reading With Success

Friday

Phonics? Rules? Can it make sense and be fun? Why do some kids just not "get it?" Why did this "program" work with #1 and #2, but not #3? HELP me understand - but more important, help me teach my child to read! If you feel that way, Come on down! Joyce has taught kids from 3 to 17 to read and spell - whether they're typical, gifted, or struggling. Come see what works!
